Albany Buddhist Sangha is a growing Buddhist community in Albany, NY. Buddhists and non-Buddhists of all backgrounds, traditions, and persuasions are invited to put the teachings of Buddha into practice.

Albany Buddhist Sangha is a satelite sangha and outreach project of the New York Buddhist Church (est. 1938). NYBC is one of over 60 Buddhist groups affiliated with the Buddhist Churches of America, the US representative of Shin Buddhism. Shin Buddhism, also known as Jōdo Shinshū, is the largest school of Buddhism in Japan and the Americas.

Sangha in Action

Reading and Discussion

Each week we gather as a community to read and discuss a Buddhist text or book together. No preparation or background is required. All are welcome!

Children’s Dharma School

At least once a month, while adults enjoy meditation, discussion, and fellowship, children are invited to participate in Dharma School activities such as arts and crafts, yoga, and an introduction to mindfulness.

Buddhist Service

Buddhists and non-Buddhists of all backgrounds and orientations are invited to unite body, speech, and mind in our Buddhist service held at the beginning of each meeting.
